In honour of Halloween, we have decided to bring you our Top 10 Scariest Footballers of all time. Far from the dashing good looks of the likes of David Beckham and Fernando Torres, the following are in no particular order as they are all equally frightening!
The Liverpool centre back easily makes it into the Top 10 Scariest Footballers, purely because of how intimidating he looks when he’s angry! Even with a relaxed face, ‘Killer’, as Brendan Rodgers so affectionately called him, is not one to mess with.
Sakho’s Liverpool comrade also makes the list as he looks like an torture-mongerer for an Eastern Europe gang. With a bald head and a permanently stern face, Škrtl is definitely not someone you’d want to run into in a dark alley at night. You know what they say, never trust a man with no vowels in his surname!
The less said about the Danish midfielder the better… we don’t want him coming after us!
John de Wolf
The Dutch centre back looks like something from an 80’s action movie… and with a surname like ‘de Wolf’, how could he not make the Top 10 Scariest Footballers list!?
One of the most famous members of Wimbledon’s ‘Crazy Gang’ of the 80’s and 90’s, no scary footballer list is complete without Vinnie Jones. After his retirement from football, Jones has consistently been typecast as violent criminals and thugs in multiple films, including his role as ‘Danny Meehan’ in the English remake of Mean Machine which more than cements the idea of him being one of the scariest ever Englishmen in the game.
Ribery is not an intimidating player per se, he make the Top 10 Scariest Footballers list simply because he looks like a character from a horror film, the poor guy.
Similar to Ribery, Iain Dowie was never known for his good looks… during his playing days, he had a face only a mother could love. Therefore, he makes it into our list of the Top 10 Scariest Footballers… no offence, Iain.
Keane was a no nonsense midfielder who seemingly never smiled. If you were to take a poll of the scariest Premier League player ever, there is no doubt that Roy Keane would be in the top 3, no doubt at all! Even now, as a coach, he has maintained his stern glare and scary demeanour!
Joining Martin Škrtl in his Eastern European gang, Tomáš Repka oozes intimidation. The ex-West Ham man loved getting in the face of his opponents and was always an obvious choice for out Top 10 Scariest Footballers.
The fact that he was given the nickname ‘Psycho’ is all that needs to be said about Stuart Pearce.
So there you have it, our Top 10 Scariest Footballers! Do you agree, or would you add anyone else to this list of footballing beasts?
