John Terry Offered 1 Year Contract Extension at Chelsea

Chelsea have offered iconic captain John Terry a one year contract extension.

Terry, who has been at Stamford Bridge since 1998 revealed in January that, despite his contract running out at the end of the season, there had been no new offer an extension from the club. Today, however, the Blues have announced that they have offered the ex England captain a contract extension.

After 483 appearances for the clubs, many fans were upset over the fact that Chelsea had not offered him a new contract, as he has always been an ever-present in the first team. Gary Cahill echoed this sentiment stating that losing the 35-year-old was going to be a “blow” for the club.

It must be made clear that despite being offered the deal, there is no guarantee that Terry will sign it; although it is most likely that he will as Terry has made clear his love for the club numerous times throughout his career. After being sent off in the match with Sunderland, it was revealed that Terry would miss the rest of the season through suspension, thus missing an emotional farewell at Stamford Bridge, this could be a contributing factor to Terry continuing his career at Chelsea.

Speaking earlier this week, Terry claimed that he wants to carry on playing football for a few more years, and hopes that those years are at Chelsea, again claiming his love for the club.
