Joey Barton Being Investigated Over Betting Scandal

Less than 24 hours after Joey Barton received a three week playing ban from Rangers – whom he joined in the summer – the ex-Manchester City, Newcastle United and Marseille midfielder is being investigated by the SFA for a breach in their strict no-betting policy.

Barton allegedly bet on Celtic to get beaten by Barcelona in the Champions League (which they did 7-0), however the Scottish Football Association insist on any player plying their trade in Scotland refraining from any betting.

This latest revelation follows a series of incidents at the Rangers training ground – after losing to their Old Firm rivals, Celtic 5-1 – that have seen Barton banished from the club; many fans believe that he has played his last match for the club, despite having only featured five times.
